Thailand to Build its First Commercial Green Hydrogen Project
Thailand is working to boost its transition to net zero through its latest partnership with Beijing Mingyang Hydrogen Technology Co Ltd, a Chinese new energy company.
The collaboration is aiming to propel Thailand into a realm of green and low-carbon practices, marking a significant milestone in the country’s transition towards sustainability.
In an agreement recently signed, Beijing Mingyang Hydrogen and Thailand’s premier liquefied natural gas distributor, IBCLNG Co Ltd, have pledged to develop a 25 MW electrolysis project jointly.
The deal encompasses IBCLNG sourcing advanced electrolysers from Beijing Mingyang Hydrogen. This will contribute technical expertise and personnel support to construct an integrated green hydrogen infrastructure in the country.
It will see the output from this collaboration be directed to steel enterprises, fostering the production of environmentally friendly steel. This could contribute to reducing carbon emissions and amplifying production sustainability.
This project could help Thailand to reach its net zero targets. It is committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and net zero emissions by 2065.
