Will Teeside’s New Trial Revolutionise Hydrogen Vehicles?
As Teesside Airport announces key hydrogen projects, HIL showcases the core aspects of the £2.5 million projects

Teesside Airport has been announced as one of the UK’s first pilot areas to test hydrogen vehicles as part of the Tees Valley’s status as the UK’s Hydrogen Transport Hub.

The £2.5m projects will see the airport, among other key Tees Valley organisations, have commercial and support vehicles fitted with 100% hydrogen zero-emission engines.

The successful trials will lead to supermarkets, emergency services and delivery companies using hydrogen-powered transport.

From retrofitting diesel busses with hydrogen fuel cells to supermarket chains obtaining hydrogen delivery vans, the trials will help understand the role of hydrogen in meeting our 2050 net-zero ambitions.

These projects will inform our future investment decisions and prime export opportunities.
