NPROXX forms partnership on development of hydrogen trucks

Each of Mobility’s truck range is set to feature four NPROXX AH620-70-3 Pressure Cylinders ensuring safe hydrogen storage.

Dutch hydrogen storage company NPROXX has announced its partnership with Mobility and Innovation Production (MIP) on the development of its hydrogen powered trucks.

Each truck is set to feature four of NPROXX’s AH620-70-3 Pressure Cylinders with the aim of insuring safe hydrogen storage facilities and the maintenance of zero-emission vehicles.

As previously reported, fuel cell trucks have an important role in the growth of the wider European hydrogen ecosystem, strongly supporting transport decarbonisation and the energy transition.

Mobility’s first hydrogen-powered truck was unveiled in November 2024 and following this successfully passed certification in accordance with EU regulations (R134 standards).

NPROXX stated this celebration stating it “marks a key milestone in its journey toward widespread adoption”.

The EU has further acknowledged how hydrogen will play a role in the future of transport fuel mixes, which was further stated in the European Strategic Energy Technology Plan.

Alongside this, both hydrogen and fuel cell technologies were identified amongst the new energy technologies needed to achieve a 60 percent to 80 percent reduction in greenhouse gases by 2050.

How has collaboration brought the project forward?

Pavel Čulík, Managing Director of MIP highlighted how the project has become a success due to collaboration across the board.

Čulík said: “The first hydrogen truck to pass homologation tests in Europe is proof of what human ingenuity can achieve when combined with the power of teamwork. This unique project would not have been possible without the dedication and extraordinary effort of everyone involved. It is a triumph of courage, creativity, and collaboration.

According to Mobility and Innovation Production, the hydrogen trucks offer an extended benefit in comparison to electric trucks.

The company stated how their product offers an expanded range for long-distance travel, providing up to 750 km of range, with a traction battery range spanning up to 120 km.
