Major Technology Breakthrough to Develop Ultra Low-Carbon Hydrogen
The 8RH2 CO2 Convective Reformer (CCR) has been unveiled by 8 Rivers, showcasing its ability to produce extremely low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia. Hydrogen Industry Leaders highlights the groundbreaking innovation involved.

The company asserts that it can achieve carbon capture rates exceeding 99%, surpassing any competitors in terms of cost and scalability.

This breakthrough offers a transformative opportunity for the transportation, agriculture, and energy sectors, where hydrogen and ammonia can serve as vital components.

In contrast to conventional hydrogen production methods, the 8RH2 system utilizes natural gas and pure oxygen.

It employs the CO2 generated during the combustion process as a heat transfer medium within a unique reformer designed by the company. Following this, the system securely stores the CO2, ensuring its removal from the environment.

Cam Hosie, CEO of 8 Rivers, said, “This breakthrough in hydrogen technology is a testament to our commitment to innovation and environmental stewardship. We are excited to collaborate with partners and stakeholders to deploy the 8RH2 technology worldwide and to drive the transition to Net Zero on a global scale.”
