UAE’s First ‘High-Speed’ Green Hydrogen Refuelling Station
Adnoc has launched the first ‘high-speed’ green hydrogen refuelling station in Abu Dhabi, in support of the United Arab Emirates National Hydrogen Strategy.

The station is located in Masdar City, a sustainable urban community aiming to drive global solutions to climate change and help to create cities of the future.

The refuelling station will test a fleet of hydrogen-powered vehicles, and the data gathered will be used to assess the long-term viability of hydrogen vehicles in the UAE.

Musabbeh Al Kaabi, Adnoc executive director of low carbon solutions and international growth, said: “We are pleased to launch this unique high-speed green hydrogen refuelling station, which supports the UAE’s National Hydrogen Strategy.”

“Adnoc continues to collaborate with local and international companies on innovative technologies and low-carbon solutions that can accelerate decarbonisation.”

A second station in Dubai Golf City is also set to open soon, providing another refuelling point.

Toyota, Al Futtaim Motors and BMW are providing the hydrogen vehicles, which will be tested by taxi companies including Tawasul.

Abdulla Balalaa, chairman of Masdar City, said: “We welcome this partnership with Adnoc to pilot hydrogen in the UAE.

“Currently, transportation accounts for approximately 20 per cent of the total global carbon output, and we need to work across every technology possible on our journey to net zero.”
