Councillor Tom Ross became the Leader of Trafford Council in January 2023, he is also the portfolio lead for Green City-Region at the Greater Manchester Combined Authority.

Tom grew up and went to school in Trafford before studying Economic History at the London School of Economics. Following graduation he has lived in Sale and now is a resident of Stretford. Tom was first elected to Trafford Council in 2008 at the age of 26 and represents Stretford & Humphrey Park Ward. He has held several roles in his time on the Council, including being the Executive Member for Finance since 2019 and he has overseen each Council budget since then.

Outside of the Council, Tom is a governor at Victoria Park Junior School in Stretford and a trustee at Homestart Trafford, Salford and Wigan.

In his spare time, Tom likes long distance walks and recently completed the new GM Ringway route. He also enjoys swimming, having first learned to swim as a challenge when he was Mayor of Trafford in 2018/19.
