Jo-Anne Tomkins

Jo-Anne is a Senior Principal Engineer within Risk Advisory at DNV. She began her career as a Process Design Engineer at Foster Wheeler, focusing on project delivery, before transitioning to DNV.

At DNV, Jo-Anne has built extensive expertise as a technical safety consultant, specialising in areas such as quantified safety assessments, authoring safety cases, updating procedural documentation, and functional safety projects. Her background in supporting onshore, gas transmission, and gas distribution projects has provided her with a versatile skill set, which she has recently applied to a variety of hydrogen projects and initiatives. These include H100, HyDeploy, HyNet, FutureGrid, LTS Futures, IGEM Standards Development, and other cross-industry collaborations.

Through this work, Jo-Anne engages with key stakeholders, including the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ).

Jo-Anne is a Chartered Engineer with both the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) and the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM). She is also the proud recipient of the IGEM Engineer of the Year award.
