Emma Wakeham
Local Area Energy Plan Programme Manager - Cardiff Capital Region

Emma Wakeham is the Local Area Energy Plan Programme Manager for the Cardiff Capital Region (CCR) which is leading on the development and implementation of Local Area Energy Planning across the region.

This is a Welsh Government funded programme which has produced a Local Area Energy Plan (LAEP) for each local authority area across Southeast Wales (Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire, Newport, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Torfaen, Vale of Glamorgan). Each of the plans sets out a route map and action plan for the whole energy system to reach net zero by 2050. This includes energy demand across all sectors including industry, commercial, public sector, domestic and transport.

Emma has many years of local authority experience working in Policy and Partnership but has also worked in the finance sector. Before joining the CCR Emma previously co-ordinated the Newport Local Area Energy Plan pilot and co-ordinated the development and delivery of the Newport City Council’s organisational Climate Change Plan.
