Deputy Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Business - MSP
Brian Whittle is a Scottish Conservative MSP for South Scotland and Deputy Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Business, Economic Growth and Tourism. He is a former professional athlete, best known for running his leg of the 1986 European Championships with only one shoe – still achieving a personal best time. Brian trained as an industrial chemist prior to his career in athletics and spent several years in business as a director of various companies working across several sectors before becoming an MSP in 2016. He is a Member of the Economy and Fair Work Committee at Holyrood and sits on Cross Party Groups for various subjects including renewable energy, sustainable transport, and improving Scotland’s health.
