Norwegian Hub Plans To Receive $14.8m Grant

A Scandinavian joint venture has received NOK 148m ($14.8m) from Enova. Hydrogen Industry Leaders looks at how this funding will help establish a hydrogen hub in Norway.

The Hydrogen Hub is planned to be built in Kristiansand, Norway, by Everfuel and Greenstat Energy, in collaboration with industrial companies Elken and Glencore Nikkelverk.

Consisting of two phases, the construction will see an initial 20MW electrolyser capacity to produce eights tonnes of hydrogen per day. In its second phase, capacity is planned to be boosted to 60MW.

According to the companies, the facility will host a hydrogen distribution centre to target the shipping sector.

Letters of Intent (Lol) for the offtake of over 8,000 tonnes of compressed hydrogen per year have been signed with companies including Holland-Norway Lines, FFS Marine and Arriva Shipping.
