Morocco to Explore Green Hydrogen Potential
Energy group Chariot, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), and Oort Energy have announced that they will collaborate on green hydrogen projects in Morocco. Hydrogen Industry Leaders looks at how the projects could unlock Morocco’s hydrogen potential.
The partners are planning to initially run proof of concept projects. These would use Oort Energy’s PEM electrolyser systems.
In addition, it has been explained that there are intentions to evaluate the feasibility of implementing large-scale green hydrogen and ammonia production in the country.
It comes after a report by Siemens Energy and Roland Berger, released in July 2022, highlighted the Middle East and Africa region’s potential of becoming a green hydrogen exporter.
Adonis Pouroulis, CEO of Chariot, said, “We are very pleased to be working alongside Oort and UM6P in evaluating the viability of another significant green hydrogen project and expanding our footprint beyond our work in Mauritania into Morocco.
“Chariot’s ambition is to become one of the world’s leading green hydrogen producers and ensuring access to reliable, cost-efficient electrolyser capacity will be a vital part of our pathway to production. We look forward to getting started on this pilot as well as collaborating on other projects of this nature in the future.”
