‘Morocco Offer’ on Green Hydrogen Receives 40 Applications

Less than 6 months after the dissemination of the circular from the Head of Government, the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy received nearly 40 project applications from various regions of the Kingdom.

This initiative follows the High Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, calling for the rapid and high-quality implementation of this offer, to leverage the advantages that Morocco possesses in this field and to best meet the needs of global investors interested in this promising sector.

Head of Government Chairs A Steering Committee Meeting

In line with the Royal Directives, the committee reviewed the progress of various projects related to the operationalisation of the “Morocco Offer” on green hydrogen. The committee discussed the methodology that will be adopted for the evaluation and selection of projects through a precise definition of criteria.

During this meeting, held less than 6 months after the publication of the circular from the Head of Government concerning the implementation of the “Morocco Offer” for the development of the green hydrogen sector, it was highlighted that the platform established by the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN) has so far received nearly 40 project applications.

Nearly 40 Project Applications Sent

This confirms the strong interest and effective engagement of both national and international energy investors in the “Morocco Offer,” which is considered competitive, integrated, transparent, and practical. It is important to note that this investor interest spans the various regions of the Kingdom, from the north of Morocco to its southern provinces.

In this context, the State, in accordance with the Royal Directives, has identified significant public land of approximately 1 million hectares to encourage and support project developers in this promising sector, while ensuring, within a contractual framework, the preservation and proper use of this public land.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Abdelouafi Laftit, Minister of the Interior, Ms. Nadia Fettah, Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Nizar Baraka, Minister of Equipment and Water, Mr. Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr. Mohcine Jazouli, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Investment, Convergence, and the Evaluation of Public Policies, Mr. Fouzi Lekjaa, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance, responsible for the Budget, Mr. Tarik Moufaddal, CEO of the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy, as well as the Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development.
