Malaysia to Develop Hydrogen Refuelling and Storage Solutions

Hydrexia is a leading Chinese hydrogen solution provider that has signed a Heads of Agreement (HOA) with ICE SEDC Hydrogen to develop, operate, and maintain hydrogen refuelling stations (HRS) and hydrogen storage solutions in Malaysia marking a significant milestone in the advancement of hydrogen infrastructure and commitment to sustainable energy solutions.

Formation of Joint Venture with ISHSB

According to the HOA, Hydrexia’s wholly-owned subsidiary forms a joint venture with ISHSB, a partnership between ICE Petroleum and SEDC Energy.

This venture supports the operation and maintenance of HRS and hydrogen storage solutions at the Rembus depot of the Automated Transit System.

This is the first phase of the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) project in Malaysia.

Strategic Collaboration for Market Penetration

“This venture will enable us to further penetrate the Malaysian hydrogen market by working with a trusted local partner like ISHSB,” explained George Gan, CEO of Hydrexia Southeast Asia.

He added, “This project will also utilise our hydrogen technology solutions to serve the needs of our customers in Malaysia.”

Meeting Market Demand

This collaborative HOA venture is expected to sufficiently meet the demand for HRS and hydrogen storage in the Malaysian market.

Abdul Jalil Maraicar, Group Managing Director of ICE Petroleum, representing ISHSB, stated, “We look forward to working with Hydrexia to best utilise its technology capability and solutions to meet the needs of our local hydrogen market.”

Previous Collaborations and Achievements

Earlier this year, Hydrexia demonstrated its expertise by providing containerised mobile HRS’ to Toyota Motor Corporation’s Malaysian subsidiary, UMW Toyota.

These hydrogen refuelling solutions powered hydrogen fuel cell vehicles showcased at Toyota’s “Beyond Zero” event in February.

Their Commitment to Hydrogen Safety

As safety is a paramount concern in the development and operation of hydrogen refuelling stations and storage solutions, Hydrexia and its partners are committed to adhering to stringent safety standards and best practices to ensure the safe handling, storage, and distribution of hydrogen.

The Malaysian nation has established comprehensive regulations and guidelines not just for this project but to promote hydrogen safety, including regular inspections, safety drills, and emergency response plans.

This joint venture will leverage these safety protocols to provide secure and reliable hydrogen solutions for the Malaysian market.
