MIRA Tech Park

Hosts MIRA Tech Park will open by setting out their vision for future R&D infrastructure to support hydrogen technology commercialisation including the global expertise offered through the HORIBA Group.

Bio: MIRA Tech Park is Europe’s leading mobility R&D location providing access to over 40 major test facilities and the UK’s most comprehensive proving ground. MIRA Tech Park is home to over 35 global OEMs, Tier 1 and specialist technology companies. The purpose-designed campus creates a unique collaborative ecosystem, bringing together world-class facilities and skilled engineers, to provide a location for innovation and technological development. Future planned developments at MIRA Tech Park will see the site expand up 4 million sq. ft encompassing the space required from incubation to full scale production.

Project ICEBreaker

Nick Tebbutt, Head of Global Sales for Vehicle Technologies for HORIBA MIRA, will share the latest updates on the APC-funded Project ICEBreaker working in partnership with Intelligent Energy and Viritech to prove the business case for hydrogen in heavy goods vehicles

Bio: Nick Tebbutt has more than 25 years’ experience in the automotive industry first with Ricardo and then HORIBA MIRA moving from electronic component design to addressing full vehicle challenges. Nick began working with Hybrid and Electric Vehicles in 2002 and since then has supported the development of new vehicle technologies to deliver an optimal balance of cost, compliance, speed to market, and innovation. Nick also works across the global HORIBA group on hydrogen fuel cell applications and infrastructure and across critical industry areas including automotive cybersecurity and autonomous vehicles.

HORIBA MIRA is a global provider of automotive engineering, test and development consultancy working in close collaboration with vehicle manufacturers and suppliers around the world, providing world-class support for automotive product development. MTC

Huw Sullivan, Sector Development Lead Hydrogen and Clean Energy, will share the role of manufacturing innovation in the progression of hydrogen technologies from the High Value Manufacturing Catapult.

Bio: Huw Sullivan leads strategy and engagement for Clean Energy at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) with a specific focus on Hydrogen. The MTC is engaged in multiple cross-sector initiatives supporting the growth of the Hydrogen economy, focused on the advanced manufacture and build of next generation solutions for hydrogen production, hydrogen distribution and storage and hydrogen end use. Prior to joining the MTC Huw was head of Innovation at Cadent Gas, formerly National Grid Gas and was involved in some of the pioneering work associated with Hydrogen as a vector to decarbonise heat, including the gas blending Hydeploy project and the Hydrogen production, distribution and CCUS project HyNet North West

Hydex Innovator Pitches

A unique opportunity to hear from a selection of companies supported through the HyDex programme working with universities across the region to develop innovative solutions to current challenges faced in the hydrogen ecosystem.

Bio: HyDEX is a three-year programme with eight university partners connected through the Energy Research Accelerator to support and foster the new hydrogen industrial economy in the Midlands. They work with SMEs, established Midlands-based and UK commercial partners, and multinationals to accelerate innovation, build markets and support the required skills transition. Their innovation programme currently has 11 projects supported by Hydex and university research expertise to develop new products and technologies in the hydrogen value chain.
