A shift towards green transport in India through a strategic partnership with Innovating for Transport and Energy Systems (ITES) enhancing the development and deployment of innovative technologies, business models, and infrastructures, focusing on alternative fuels, including green hydrogen, battery and energy storage systems, and electric charging methods.

ITES is a UK-India innovation initiative dedicated to promoting advanced sustainable transport technologies and creating scalable models of public-private alliance. This partnership aims to leverage Freeport East’s mandate for Net Zero and innovation, integrating it with ITES’ international partnership approach. The goal is to foster mutually beneficial investment opportunities and enhance bilateral trade between India and the UK, encouraging key industry players and public bodies to co-develop and deploy sustainable transport projects.

An MOU was signed by Steve Beel, CEO of Freeport East, marking a significant step towards fast-tracking energy innovation in the transport sector. Beel emphasised the importance of this collaboration, stating, “India is one of the world’s most exciting markets for innovation and offers significant opportunities for UK businesses to export their products and services.”

Jack Landers, Science Team Leader at the British High Commission in New Delhi, India, echoed these beliefs. He noted, “Following the Foreign Secretary’s recent visit to meet with the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and the clear commitment on both sides to build our bilateral relationship, this agreement will help further our common interests while building mutual growth and trade opportunities in green transport.”
