Dr Femi Omoniyi
I am West Yorkshire’s net zero project manager for the North East and Yorkshire net zero hub at the West Yorkshire Combined Authority; as the local capacity support for West Yorkshire, my job role entails helping to deliver local energy strategies in West Yorkshire as well as identifying, enabling, supporting and developing business cases for local net zero capital projects. My job role also entails leading programme and net zero project development aligned with West Yorkshire’s climate and environment plan.
I am also leading a piece of work commissioned by the North East and Yorkshire Net zero hub on an assessment of hydrogen deployment in the North East and Yorkshire region; the study being carried out by ARUP looks to assess hydrogen deployment opportunities within the region with the view of developing a high-level, credible and region-specific pathway / action plan for hydrogen deployment within the region. This assessment should also lead to the formation of a high-level informed hydrogen working group equipped with an action plan and roadmap for hydrogen deployment within the region. The project also carries out a local area analysis on hydrogen opportunities and the value assessment of hydrogen within several sectors within West Yorkshire.
Prior to my current role, I have varied industrial and research experience working on and leading several hydrogen projects as a scientist and process engineer.
