Chartered Engineer – Rhino HySafe Ltd
Michael Hasson is a Chartered Engineer with over 25 years’ experience in the design, analysis and fabrication of steel structures, including those subjected to accidental and extreme loading.  Michael has worked on numerous blast resistant and blast relieving structures in the oil & gas, petrochemical and commercial sectors, addressing hazards ranging from natural gas deflagrations through to hydrogen detonations.  His consulting experience in hydrogen hazards extends back to the first round of pilot fuelling installations in Europe and the US, leading on to work in support of combined carbon capture & storage / hydrogen-fuelled power generation projects.  He has worked closely with the team at Rhino to support the development of their innovative, low inertia, rapid-acting VERTX relief panel, combining detailed nonlinear, explicit dynamics modelling with full-scale experimental work at DNV’s Spadeadam facility.  Michael is the Structural Technical Manager at McLaughlin & Harvey, a large civil engineering and construction contractor.
